Kaori Suzuki

Born in 1989. Living in Tokyo, Japan.

I met Japanese painting at the age of 30, and since being impressed by the beauty of mineral pigments called “Iwaenogu” used in it, I’ve been drawing with that.

The model of my paintings is my nephew.

Drawing children reminds me of the pure gaze I must have had as a child,

when everything seemed to shine brightly.

At the same time, I feel the fragility of childhood, which passes by in a blink of an eye.

Through trial and error, I would like to continue to draw children whom I find beautiful.
